Are you ready for Fall? Have you started transitioning your closet over for the upcoming season? I’ve made some changes, but my closet is not ready for fall, but with the weather not really cooling down too much yet, there’s still time. Nevertheless, since mid-August In addition to pre-fall sales and a flood of emails about fall clothing in my inbox, the Pumpkin Spiced Latte, and other season-themed treats seemed to make an early appearance at Starbucks & Dunkin Donuts. Though I’m normally not one to celebrate a season, especially a summer, coming to an end, this year I’m hopping on the bandwagon a few days ahead of the season to talk about fashion trends you’ll be seeing everywhere this fall season.
If you’ve been following my posts you know I’ve written about having and owning your sense of style whether that does or doesn’t include following trends. So if you’re wondering why I’m doing a post on trends, it’s simple. Inspiration is everywhere, even if something doesn’t fit your style, a color or fabric combination can inspire new outfit ideas that help you make a fashion trend your own. So let’s get to that list of shall we?
9 Fashion Trends You’ll Be Seeing Everywhere This Fall
Bright Colors: The arrival of Fall brings with the classic color schemes with red, beige, yellow, and brown. However, while these colors will most likely keep coming back as a signature of the fall season, this year, brights are more prevalent. This year Lilac is a fall color along with a few other bright yet saturated shades. While the outfits I’ve seen featuring these colors look fun, I’m not sure this will be a trend I pick up, at least not for the clothing part of my outfit, but maybe my accessories, who knows?
Throwbacks: The fashion trends you’ll be seeing this fall are full of tributes, for lack of a better word, to notable styles of the past. From fringe styles, bell bottoms, and platform shoes of the 70’s to graphic tees, oversized shirts, and monogrammed bags of the 90’s and early 2000’s, many of the popular trends of the season.

Florals: Florals have been a part of the fall season and they’ve returned for another fall season. When florals first started showing up in the fall, I resisted wearing it because they were never really my style, but it’s grown on me depending on how I style it, but playing with this print can be fun.
Plaid: Is this one really a surprise? Plaid has been around for a few years. We’ve seen everything from coats and tops to pants and miniskirts. I despised this trend once upon a time, but I have to admit I love the one piece of plaid clothing I have in my closet and I’m having fun coming up with creative ways to style it. According to one of InStyle’s articles on fashion trends for this fall, fall with a preppy vibe is in, however, though I may be wearing some plaid this upcoming season, I don’t see myself following that part of the trend.
Cutouts: This is one fall fashion I’m really excited about. Cutouts give you a lot of options, from keyholes, back to arms, there are choices when putting an outfit like this together Although cutouts have been around for years, I’m excited to see some new takes on the style. I love playing with this style seen the outfits can be casually fun or a little sophisticated depending on other factors of the outfits.
Oversized Shackets: Oversized Shirt Jackets, okay help me out here because I have to admit this is one style I don’t really get. I mean, sure it’s comfortable, but all I can see when wearing an oversized jacket is one of the sleeves continuously falling down when I’m trying to do daily activities. Style-wise I think oversize jackets would be cute with maxi dresses, it would add something to your outfit without hiding everything, On the other hand, you could just as easily wear a basic shirt and leggings and wear a belt to add a bit of detail and slightly rolled up sleeves to a simple looking oversized piece and you’d be good to go with a cute, but casual outfit so it really is all about how you style something.

Furry Clothing: From at-home cozy comforts to soft pieces to wear on the go. Last year was working from home and being as comfortable as possible, this year we are bringing comfort with us in the form of faux fur pieces. Why is that different for one thing? It’s not just for outerwear pieces this time, but accessories and accents on a top. From what I’ve seen this seems to be a really cute trend, but I doubt I’ll be wearing it this season if we’re not talking about outerwear pieces.
Totes: Are you a girl that carries “everything, but the kitchen skin in her purse? If your answer is yes, I have good news for you totes are in again. Sure these bags are available year-round, but you have to admit, there are way more options to fit your sense of style when something is trending. Totes can be cumbersome to carry around as a wheelchair user depending on where you hang it on your chair, but it’s still one of my favorite types of handbags.
Knee High Boots: When I found out boots were part of a trend that you would see everywhere this fall I was so excited. I love, love wearing boots during the fall. There is just something about the sleek look of knee-high boots that says fall to me. Knee-high boots give you an elegant vibe for your outfit, at least in my opinion, they can help you elevate almost anything from summer dresses to all-around denim outfits. I have 3 pairs, I’ll definitely be wearing this fall.
The changing of the seasons is always so much fun for me fashion-wise. It’s a chance to refresh a wardrobe, either by mixing in a few new pieces or wearing them a little differently. If you see a fashion trend this fall that fits your style go ahead and wear it, don’t be afraid to try new things out as well, you never know when you might find a new favorite for your closet.
Remember a disability doesn’t have to hinder your style, have fun with it.
