Words have power. Words have the power to break us, but they also have the power to lift us up, motivate us, remind us who we are and what we are capable of achieving. Before the pandemic, I wouldn’t have believed that as strongly as I do now. Quotes and affirmations are a daily part of my life that help me keep my mindse especially where disability is concerned positive. So, in honor of The Little Mermaid live action movie release in a few weeks, I wanted to share another article with my favorite disney quotes, statements that went over our heads when the movies were released now mean so much now. Here are a few more Disney Quotes I think other women with disabilities need to read.

Self Love Quotes
“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” – The Emperor (Mulan)
I love the story of Mulan, though I didn’t immediately love it like I did the other Disney princesses. However, this is one of my favorite Disney quotes. This quote to me, represents how we are viewed differently and living in a world not designed for us. I think it’s a reminder that we need to pursue the lives we want, whatever that may be in any shape or form, that doing so allows us to appreciate the end result even more. Simply put: things are hardly ever easy or fair, still it’s worth the hardship anyway.
- “There’s no one I’d rather be than me.” — Ralph, Wreck-It Ralph
- The very things that hold you down are going to lift you up.” — Timothy Mouse, (Dumbo)

Quotes About Success From Disney
It’s up to you how far you’ll go. If you don’t try, you’ll never know.” —Merlin, from (The Sword in the Stone)
A successful career hinges on various aspects whether or not you are disabled, however, living with a disability changes how people perceive you, especially in the workplace. In order to go after your own goals you need to believe in yourself. That said, we all know how disheartening it can be when you are constantly underestimated. I love this quote because it’s a reminder that though people are constantly underestimating those of us with disabilities, no one can truly tell how far we will go in are careers. There is only one way to know, one person to limit you and that’s you, believing in yourself is a part of the battle, easier said than done, nonetheless essential.
- “Every adventure requires a first step.” “Alice (Alice In Wonderland)”
- “You control your destiny — you don’t need magic to do it. And there are no magical shortcuts to solving your problems.” – Merida, Brave
- You think the only people who are people, are the people who look and think like you. But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you’ll learn things you never knew you never knew.” – Pocahontas, Pocahontas
- “If you focus on what you left behind, you will never be able to see what lies ahead.” — Gusteau (Ratatouille)
- “It’s important to always look where you’re headed rather than where you were” – (The Lion King)

My Favorite Quotes From Disney Movies
When life gets you down do you wanna know what you’ve gotta do? Just keep swimming!” – Dory, Finding Nemo
Who doesn’t love Dory? When I saw this quote, I debated adding it to this article because while I do love Finding Nemo, I feel like this quote oversimplifies things in life because it’s a movie for a young audience, then ain sometimes simple works best. When it comes to life with a disability, even in the tough moments whether they are physical or mental, we need to keep going, keep moving forward. Yes, this is easier said than done, but necessary because we each owe it to ourselves to enjoy this one life we are given as much as possible.
- “I never look back, darling! It distracts from the now.” —Edna Mode, (The Incredibles)
- Fairy tales can come true. You gotta make them happen, it all depends on you.” (Tiana, Princess and the Frog)
- Embrace what makes you different.” — Dumbo, (Dumbo)
- Sometimes our strengths lie beneath the surface.” – (Moana, Moana)
- “If you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you’ll learn things you never knew you never knew.” – (Pocahontas, Pocahontas)
As the live-action release for another Disney classic nears, I can’t help but think back to my childhood watching these movies, enjoying the stories and learning from them. I hope this article shares a quote that teaches you somthing news as well as inspires and/or motivates you. As Dumbo said “embrace what makes you different.”
