Spring is almost here! Goodbye winter coats and heavy boots, hello ¾ sleeves among many other things. Personally, I love all the seasons for different reasons, but Spring is one of my favorites and no, it’s not because my birthday is during this time of year. This season, like early fall, gives you so many options when it comes to fashion. Defining your personal style gives you a guide to the new pieces you’ll add to your closet each season, still, fashion trends present the opportunity to try something new or at the very least provide inspiration to incorporate your style into looks for the season. With spring days away, here are some spring fashion trends for 2020 you need to know about.
Fashion Trends & Styles
Various Necklines: From Square necklines to Sweetheart and Asymmetrical ones, one of this season’s biggest trends is different necklines. Although the neckline, might seem like a small aspect of the piece, it can give a different completely different look to a top or outfit. taking it from casual to date night.
Puffy Sleeves: Last Spring we saw bell sleeves as a huge trend that was focused on the forearm and wrist. This year, the trend in regard to sleeves is puffy sleeves. Puffy sleeves are focused more on the shoulder. Don’t get me wrong, we may be seeing the puffy sleeve aspect mainly applied to the shoulder, but there are still some pieces that play with where on the arm they apply the puffy aspect. This trend it seems can be applied to styles without much thought to the sleeve length itself.

Matching Separates: Matching separates, usually consists of a crop top and pants, most likely palazzo pants. This fashion style gives you three different outfit options: The outfit as is, or pairing the top with different pants and vice versa. I’m usually careful with the outfits I buy in this style because although I may like the outfit on its own, pairing the pieces with other items may not always be easy, but don’t be afraid to try something, have fun with the process of mixing things up.
Several of the big trends this season seem to be the next step in a way to last year’s trends instead of all new styles. Why do I say that? Well, first there were bell-sleeves that made way for puffy sleeves, now there are matching separates which seem to be the new look over a romper or jumpsuit. Don’t get me wrong the jumpsuit is still a popular item, just not this year’s trend.
Bermuda Is Business Casual: Do you like Bermuda shorts? if so then this next trend is for you. One of the most surprising trends at least to me was this particular combo. We’re seeing a lot of shorts this season particularly Bermuda shorts paired with suit jackets or double-breasted blazers. Now I’m not going to lie pulling off Bermuda shorts in a corporate setting is going to be tricky. Although this trend definitely isn’t for me, the one piece of advice I can give is don’t overdo it, simple is better, you’re still going to work after all.
Drawstrings: Drawstrings is a new one, at least on anything other than sweatpants, to me anyway, but it seems this feature is going to be a big fashion trend for Spring 2020. From the shorts to waists of jackets or dresses to handbags with the drawstring detail like mini backpacks and the bucket bag.

Patterns & Colors
Ruffles: Ruffles have been around for a while especially in the spring. We’re seeing them everywhere from tops and skirts to dresses. When ruffles started becoming more apparent in fashion, I’ll admit wasn’t all that excited because it always seemed like something that was too youthful. However, paired with some of the other spring fashion trends for 2020, it works, but it can still be tricky not to look over the top and/or youthful.
Florals: This pattern has been a part of Spring Fashion Trends for years and this year is no exception. The floral print is on everything from tops, and bottoms, to jumpsuits and rompers, to handbags. Personally, this has never been one of my favorite trends, but over the years it has grown on me enough to occasionally wear this trend.
Polka Dots: Polka dots have been a part of spring fashion for a while, but they seem to be really big this year. This spring fashion trend has been on several different fashion pieces.
Colors: The color for Spring 2020 is Green, however, I’ve also seen a lot of white and pinks for the season.

Other Notable Fashion Trends For Spring 2020:
Colorful Leather: Leather has been a part of fashion trends for some time now and although we’ve seen it other colors before this one surprised me a bit because the colors are bright like neon colors.
Hoop Earrings: I’ve been wearing hoop earrings for as long as I can remember so I didn’t even realize that they weren’t in style. Nevertheless, hoop earrings are one of the biggest trends for this season and the bigger the better. I currently have hoops that I put on my wrist and while I can’t say that I’ll be wearing earrings of that size more often, I know that while they’re popular I’m going to have fun looking at the designs and styles.
While there are numerous fashion trends for Spring 2020, these are the ones that I’ve seen based on research shopping experiences and social media.
According to an article in Harper’s Bazaar, Lauren Hutton once said: “Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers. And style is what you choose.” Your style is what works for you and what you like to wear, follow these trends or ignore them or find the middle grow and incorporate them into your personal style. I contemplated writing this post simply because they’re just that, trends, but if you want to find the middle ground and incorporate them into your personal style or if you’re looking for fashion inspiration for some outfits for the season, then it pays to know what the fashion trends are.
